My Skincare Routine

Recently I have gotten many messages on my FB Beauty Page asking how I keep my skin flawless? I wouldn't consider my skin "flawless" but it is rare that I breakout. All throughout high school I never had acne, not even a single trace of it up until I turned 21. IT SUCKED! Because when it come, it CAME! My face was covered in acne and I had no idea how to get rid of it. I tried so many different products and it just seemed like they were making it worse. So finally I tried Proactive and just like the commercials say, IT WORKS! I continued to use if for a year even though my face had cleared up for month and when I stopped, I began to break out again. I was so angry, I had change my eating habits, drank lots of water and nothing made it clear up. After about three months I decided to go back to Proactive, and boy was that a HUGE mistake. My face had an allergic reaction to it. Face swell up like a big red tomato, got itchy, and blotchy, so bad that I missed work for four days. It was the worse experience I've ever had when it came to products. I couldn't believe it! Of course after that I did some deep research on it and found out that proactive was made to only work if you use it continuously. Therefore, when I stopped why when, I broke out even worse. Now they claim to have a "NEW ADVANCED FORMULA", one that I won't dare try lol.

But anyways, I know you aren't hear to read about what I used in the past, but what I use today and how I got rid of my acne.

To begin, I really had no idea what to even buy. I mean I had already use expensive stuff, this and that, nothing had worked. I was ready to give up but then my grandma, may she rest in peace, told me something I would have never in a million years thought of doing. She told me to use a mild soap, wash my face every night and then apply "VIC's VAPOR RUB" all over my face. Yes, I know exactly what you're thinking because I thought the same. "What are you talking about? I have acne, not a cold!" BAZAAR, but I was so desperate, I gave it a try. I used Johnson's Baby Body Wash (yellow) to wash my face, pat it dry, then rubbed the Vic's all over. The first night I thought I was going to die, I felt like I couldn't breath, that stuff was so strong. Yes it's meant to open your sinus, but when it's that much, it's overpowering. When I woke up the next morning, I already noticed a humongous difference. Whatever red spots I had on my face were no longer red. I truely was amazed!  I continued to do this until my face cleared completely, which did not take long. Washed at night to get all the oil and dirt off, applied vapor rub, and rinsed in the morning.

So here's a list of products I use:
  • Olay Totoal Effect 7 Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser- this stuff is tough enough to get all makeup off (even stubborn waterproof), but yet is gentle for sensitive skin.
  • Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel- many people don't know what which hazel is, but this is an AMAMZING all natural astringent that is made out of plants and flowers. It helps tone, lock in skin moisture, minimize pores and reduce dark circles. It says to apply all over face with a cotton ball, but I use it like a man would use aftershave. I pout a dime size amount in the palm of my hand and pat onto face. (Only thing I do not like is the smell, it literally smells like cigarette butts, but it goes away quick so nothing you can't handle)
  • Olay Regenerist Moisturizer- great moisturizer! Doesn't leave you face oily, but yet give you that deep moisture you need to stay looking young. Also, great for minimizing fine lines.
  •  Vic's Vapor Rub- only used as spot treat if I ever get a pimple
  • Mia Clarisonic- can't go without this baby here. Although I may not use it but 2-3 times a week, it is a great investment! Like I mentioned before I only use this whenever I wear makeup. It leave you face feeling beyond clean, soft, and refreshed. (You do not have to use the Clarisonic facial cleanser, you can use whatever you prefer)
So there you go, my Skincare routine and products.
Feel free to share with me what you like to use.
XoXo
